To move forward, we must look back.

After the death of his grandfather (Oupa), Jan locks himself inside his grandparent’s house – determined to hold onto their memory. The limbo Jan finds himself in proves to be the catalyst for inspiration as he discovers possessions within the house that will change his life forever.

Based on true events, Typical Life merges the mediums of film and music to create a ‘Music Film’, using original 16 & 8mm footage shot by the Director’s (Jas Miszewski) great grandmother accompanied by the experimental guitar sounds of Israeli born Hvetter.

The film contains original, never before seen footage of the inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria in 1949 and Hitler Youth marching in Rothenberg in 1939, just a few months before World War Two broke out.
