Ellen DeGeneres stole the show with the best selfie ever and turned the Oscars into amusing and fun event while Gravity swept up the awards.

But just behind those mega stars were a bunch of short film directors and producers who make their films from passion and fun, in hopes for a little recognition. We would like to congratulate all the nominees for the fantastic films you created, in particular the 3 big winners in the short film categories:

Live Action Short Film: Helium

A huge congratulations to Anders Walter and Kim Magnusson whom we had the tremendous opportunity to chat with a few weeks ago, Helium is such a magnificent short film and deserves nothing more than an Oscar. Hope the world gets to see soon – We will definitely have it on Film Shortage the day it becomes available!

Documentary Short Subject: Lady In Number 6

We are extremely proud of Montreal filmmakers Malcolm Clarke and Nicholas Reed on their Oscar win, for one of the most inspirational stories ever told, about 109 year old Alice Herz Sommer, the world’s oldest pianist and oldest holocaust survivor.
