With all the hype from The Force Awakens, and after re-watching the first 6 original episodes a couple of times, we have decided to dig up some of the best Star Wars fan films online for you. Having probably the biggest cult following ever for a film, we certainly had hundreds of fan films to choose from, these are a few that really stood out for us. There are shorts, parodies and trailers as well, but they are all fan films. Enjoy!

(New!) Star Wars: Dresca

When Dresca – an injured Imperial pilot – is rescued by Rebels after the Battle of Endor, she must choose between her loyalty to the Empire and the kindness of strangers she once thought of as monsters.

(New!) Bounty Hunt

BOUNTY HUNT is a personal take on the more mature and grittier Star Wars universe. Inspired by Shadows of the Empire, this short fan film tells a story of a successful bounty hunt, and explores what an R-Rated Star Wars film might feel like.

(New!) Squad Leader TD-73028 Soliloquy

To be or not to be: Star Wars meets Shakespeare. Hamlet’s famous soliloquy is presented as the inner voice of a Stormtrooper, demonstrating the way Shakespeare’s language still echoes down to us through the centuries and remains as relevant today as ever—not to mention as well in a galaxy far, far away…

Days Past

Years after the collapse of The Republic, Valera has carved out a life for herself in the galaxy’s outer rim. But when an old student returns, she is thrust back into the life she left behind.

Boba Fett – The Twelve Parsec Stare

Boba Fett, the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter, has tracked his next prey into a dusty saloon in the outskirts of a remote space port. In the shadows of the busy space bar the hunter confronts his target’s three sinister henchmen. Who will blink first?

Darth Maul: Apprentice

Darth Maul gets the recognition he deserves in this dark and eloquent fan film.

Kara

The newest addition to the Star Wars fan film collection, and probably the closest one yet to episode VII in style.

STAR WARS LEGENDS: Legacy of the Force

Legacy of the Force takes place in the expanded universe and featuring the children of Han and Leia. The film is female centered with probably more women than the entire 6 films together, which all sport Earth-like fashion (where are the buns?). Other than the opening scene which resembles something from episode I, the rest embraces good old fashion set designs from the original trilogy. Good action and special effects, but we do think the Master villain deserved a cool mask.

Tie Fighter

‘Tie Fighter’ brings us closer to the animated series, however it has its own unique Japanese style twist to it which looks pretty wickedly intense. The only thing we’re not sure about is 80’s themed rock soundtrack selection.

KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC: BROKEN SOULS

Probably a case for badass over-acting, but the rest of the production still pretty decent. Special effects and costumes make it for an interesting watch. Darth Revan and his Sith general Meetra Surik, hunt down a monster that threatens the newly established Sith Empire.

The Old Republic: Rescue Mission

Takes a while to get started, but the rescue mission get interestingly heated once Revan shows up. An original story set between the events of the Knights of The Old Republic game and Drew Karpyshyn’s novel ‘Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan‘.

Troops

Beware the low quality. Probably one of our favorite fan films of all time. Shot mockumentary style, ‘Troops’ parodies the COPS tv show, directed by Kevin Rubio and premiered at the Comic Con International convention in San Diego in July 1997.

Ruins and Reckoning

An action-packed isolated storyline with new characters, light sabers and lots of lens flares.

The New Republic Anthology

Featured on Film Shortage just a few weeks ago, this simple but dramatic trailer caught our attention with the use of a familiar character, and continuing story from the original films.

Rebel Scum

We don’t have much story, but it looks pretty awesome! these guys are sticking to the roots of the original trilogy with miniatures and stop motion animation, and it looks fantastic! Check out the Behind The Scenes to see how the project is moving along.

Rise of the Empire

Trailer to a crowdfunding fan-film, ‘Rise of The Empire’ stay true to the original trilogy filmmaking style.
