The Performance
Three sisters: Summer, Sarah and Sasha have grown up together with a theatre father and it is hard to see the world outside of that. Their beloved mother lies dying in hospital and cannot be there for their first performance of Chekhov’s “Three Sisters” and their ruthless father spins around to take control of their world as they know it. A husband loses his footing and tries to hold on to his manhood, affecting the family dynamics as they all keep trying to ground themselves in preparation for the first performance. Nerves and truths unravel until they must all face the final pain of loss but because of the nature of the theatre world their lives as artists must go on. It is the theatrical code, the world that they cannot avoid, the world that is both mystical and personally sacrificing. “The Performance” is the third piece of a trilogy focused on the lives of theatre artists.
